Who We Are

The purpose of the Dementia Support Center is to enhance the dementia-capability of our community through education and provision of home and community-based services. We are a grant-funded organization that aims to increase knowledge, awareness, and understanding of dementia in communities across Wyoming. Our staff is passionate about assisting those impacted by dementia through improving their care, communication, and quality of life. Through an evidence-based, empathic approach, we aim to recognize, validate, and meet the needs of our community.

What We Do

We offer evidence-based interventions to meet the specific needs of people with dementia, and their family members. We also offer dementia screening for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who may have or be at risk of dementia. Additionally, the Dementia Support Center provides training programs for community members, first responders, health care and service providers to increase their ability to provide dementia-capable care. Finally, we hold a support group for dementia caregivers, as well as individual psychotherapy for caregivers on a case-by-case basis.

Our primary volunteer opportunity is through the Caring Companions program, a volunteer-based respite care initiative. The purpose of this program is to provide a few hours per week of free respite care to dementia caregivers and companionship to people with dementia or other chronic diseases.
