Who We Are

Foster homes- to temporarily foster animals pending adoption into permanent homes. Interns- to mentor under a certified trainer and work with shelter and/or homeless animals to help them become more adoptable. Kennel/barn assistants- will help with feeding and exercising animals, and cleaning kennels. This is an outdoor position, volunteers must be willing to work outside, even in extreme hot or cold and windy conditions, may be snowing or raining at times as well. Includes physical labor in that you may be required to carry up to 50 pounds of bagged food, wood shavings, straw bales and push a wheel barrow full of dog/horse manure, straw, sand, and shavings. The current kennel set up is at a private residence, so it is imperative that people in this position can be respectful of the property owners needs and concerns regarding volunteer hours and duties. Dog walkers- this position requires that you attend a dog-walking class with a certified trainer prior to acceptance. Cat socializers- this position requires that you attend a cat body language class with a certified trainer/behaviorist prior to acceptance. Grant writers- will help us write grants to aid in the development of programs for animals, children, education and outreach, or to enhance the care of the animals in our programs. Outreach - will aid in the promotion of programs, activities and success stories or needs via the internet (website/facebook page, etc) and other venues, such as tabling at events where animals may or may not be allowed, writing letters to the editors in local papers asking for support, drafting news releases, creating flyers and distributing them, etc. Webmaster- will help with updating the website and other virtual pages. Would LOVE experience with HTML. We are also seeking other skilled volunteers to help with money management, legal advice, and educational outreach program development for children, adults, and people recovering from traumatic live events who seek healing through a connection with the environment and animals.
