Canstruction Jr® is a children's fundraising event that will be held at the Eastridge Mall on Saturday, October 18th.
The idea behind this competition is to get the entire community involved and aware of hunger right here, in our very own community. It is estimated that nearly 3,000 kids in Natrona County alone are food insecure, and don't know where their next meal is coming from.
According to the official Canstruction website, "Kindergarten through 12th grade students compete in an innovative competition which incorporates basic and advanced art, design, science, technology, engineering and math principles (STEM) while instilling the importance of community service. Competing teams are responsible for purchasing canned food and designing/building their structure. Teams are encouraged to include a mentor with a physics, architecture, design, engineering or construction background. Teams are judged in three categories and receive awards at the end of the competition. All food is donated to a local hunger relief organization after the competition."
