Volunteer: Walk to End Alzheimer's - Western Wyoming

Help fight the nation's 6th leading cause of death by raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association-Wyoming Chapter.

The Alzheimer's Association provides robust care and support services for those we serve, always at no cost. We are able to do this thanks to the support we receive from our local communities.

In Wyoming, we host the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Albany County (Laramie), Campbell County (Gillette), Carbon County (Saratoga), Park County (Cody), Sweetwater County (Rock Springs), Western Wyoming (Jackson), and our state-wide walk at the Wyoming State Capitol.

Walk Committee members assist in multiple ways: 1) outreach to local businesses for sponsorship; 2) getting the word out and recruiting participants; and 3) organizing the event-day activities and logistics.

Our committees are well supported by staff! We cannot wait to know you and to work with you on this important effort!

If you live in another county, please reach out to discuss ways that we can work together to host activities that support the Alzheimer's Association in your community through the Do What You Love campaign!

Volunteer: Social Media and E-Commerce support

Interested in history, archaeology, or outdoor recreation?  We want you!  You can be located anywhere, but supporting the Friends of Medicine Lodge State Park and Archaeological Site in north-central Wyoming.  Our organization exists to support Medicine Lodge State Park, a jewel in the Wyoming State Parks system.
We run a lean machine, with a just-launched e-commerce site (friendsofmedicinelodge.org).  This is our main source of revenue, since most of our Board does not live near the Park.
We are looking for someone with back-end Shopify experience, who also loves engaging with social media.  In this area, Facebook is the channel that gets the most reach, but we have a lazy Insta page as well.
Can you help us with our new Shopify entity to get it into a more self-sustaining mode, along with social media engagement to boot?

Volunteer: Volunteer Online as a Conversation Partner

Ready to change a life from the comfort of home?

Join ENGin as a conversation partner! This is a flexible and unique opportunity to make a direct  impact on someone’s life while discovering a new culture and meeting a new friend.

We’ll pair you up with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one hour videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll practice English with your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection.

No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian language is needed to volunteer with ENGin. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences. Our friendly team is available to support you throughout your time with us.

Our only requirements for volunteers are English fluency, a strong internet connection, and the ability to commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 10-12 weeks.

Since our launch in 2020, ENGin has matched over 26,000 volunteers with Ukrainians for authentic English-language connection across borders, and we continue to grow every day. 99% of our learners report feeling they were able to break the language barrier as a participant in our program, and 79% of our participants form lasting friendships.

Here's what three ENGin volunteers say about their experience.

"I made a friend in Ukraine and we are teaching each other about our culture, our language, and our humor. We're even trading dad jokes! Both of us look forward to our chats and have a hard time wrapping it up."

“Fantastic organization doing great work. So happy to be a small part of it.  My partner and I have worked together for two years and have become good friends! Her English has become better, and I have become more knowledgeable about Ukraine!”

"This program has been, I think, life-changing for both of us. I really consider her more like my daughter right now. That's how close we have become!"

To learn more about ENGin and become a volunteer, please visit www.enginprogram.org/volunteer.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our team at info@enginprogram.org.

Volunteer: Welcome Desk Volunteering

*Please email melisa.mcchesney@wyo.gov to sign up. This site does not notify us when new responses come in*

Each month, the Wyoming State Museum welcomes hundreds to thousands of guests from around the country and the world. Visitors coming to the museum might have lived here their whole lives or never been to the state at all. No matter where they come from or why they're here, we want them to feel welcomed and excited about their time at the State Museum.

Role:

Our welcome desk is staffed by volunteers who enjoy talking to people, answering questions, and acting as the face of the museum for our diverse visitors. Welcome desk volunteers will interact with people from around the world, giving them a brief introduction to the museum, answering their questions, and ensuring the safety of collections, staff, and guests. Desk volunteers also help the public do business with state departments within the State Parks and Cultural Resources division.

The museum is open from 9 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Saturday. Each day is split into two volunteer shifts, a morning shift from 9:00 am - 12:45 pm and an afternoon shift from 12:45 - 4:30 pm. Desk volunteers can work as few as one shift a month or can work as often as two or three times a week. Your schedule will be provided on a monthly basis, two week in advance.

Benefits:

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to interact with people and contribute to the vibrant and welcoming Cheyenne tourism community. Volunteers will receive a monthly newsletter of happenings at the museum and will be invited to occasional volunteer events including dinners and behind the scenes tours. Volunteering in this role may lead to future opportunities working in the museum’s collections, education, exhibits, and community engagement departments.

Volunteer: Transform the Lives of Wyoming Youth with SAE and AmeriCorps

Did you know...

that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) 2019–29 employment projections show that occupations in the STEM field are expected to grow 8.0% by 2029, compared with 3.7% for all occupations? That's less than 5 years away, and that's why we need your help in transforming STEM education across the state of Wyoming.

Research proves that early access to STEM education can boost confidence, increase achievement, and ignite potential. STEM programming that is designed to help students build STEM proficiency and gain skills necessary to succeed in the innovation-focused twenty-first century job market is essential. Opt-in programs and those that start in secondary school often only capture those students who have already identified an interest in STEM subjects, thereby excluding many marginalized “at promise” populations, including women and minorities.

What we do:

Valued for its ability to bring inspiration, accessibility, and equity to STEM education, the SAE International A World In Motion® (AWIM®) program is highly regarded for its unrivaled efforts to increase teacher/volunteer confidence and competence to facilitate STEM learning. Through fun, hands-on activities, AWIM heightens STEM interest and understanding while also preparing students for real-world scenarios. As a new AmeriCorps program through funding from Serve Wyoming, SAE needs members like you to help shape the engineers of the future.

SAE and AmeriCorps:

"Serving through AmeriCorps allows you to get to the heart of what people and communities need, and see the positive outcomes of your own contributions... the most rewarding aspects of my experience cannot be overstated. In my ten month program, I was rewarded with new friends, countless new skills and abilities, clarity about my passions and direction in life, confidence, new perspectives, and so much more."

- Victoria Wiseman, AmeriCorps Alum

Through the SAE A World In Motion (AWIM) AmeriCorps Wyoming program, service members have the power to make a difference and change the lives of PreK-12 students throughout Wyoming communities. This unique service opportunity expands vital access to STEM education for young learners to help them discover their full potential and succeed.

Service members will receive a living allowance and are also eligible to earn the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

Upcoming service cohorts will work with school and community-based organization site partners in Albany, Laramie, and Natrona counties.

Terms and Applications Process

Three-quarter time terms are ideal, half and quarter time terms considered to support winter, spring, summer programs with our site partners.

We accept applications on a rolling basis starting immediately. We are actively interviewing and hiring for upcoming program needs. We encourage anyone interested to contact us to ask questions and apply as soon as possible.
