The Wall That Heals, a ¾-scale traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is coming to Afton, Wyoming. The 375 foot long exhibit features over 58,000 names, providing a 24 hour, no cost opportunity for reflection, healing, education and honoring veterans.   A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity honoring our Vietnam Veterans that offers a space for healing—now coming to Western Wyoming for the first time. One of 31 sites across the Nation.

Volunteers are the heart of The Wall That Heals.   Because of your time, compassion, and dedication, this powerful exhibit becomes a welcoming, educational, and unforgettable experience for every visitor.

By volunteering, you help honor the names etched on The Wall and support members of our community as they reflect, remember, and heal.  Your presence matters, sometimes through a warm greeting, sometimes through quiet support, and sometimes simply by being there.

By volunteering, you don’t just help run an event—you help create a space of respect, connection, and remembrance. Volunteers are needed throughout the duration of the exhibit.  We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, making it easy for individuals and groups to plug in and serve in a meaningful way. 

Volunteer opportunities are available in many roles, including:

Visitor/Welcome Center Ambassadors (only seated position)

Parking AttendantsGreeters/Floaters (available in two hour shifts)

With many ways to serve, volunteers can choose the opportunities that best fit their availability and strengths while helping create a meaningful experience for every visitor. We are looking for volunteers with a willingness to serve.  No experience or special skills needed. Most shifts are four hours in length, rain or shine. You may sign up for multiple roles, days, and times.

Committee members help plan, organize and host chapter events. Various pre-event tasks are delegated to committee volunteers throughout the planning process to ensure a well-managed event. Committee members help promote the event, solicit donations for and sell tickets to fundraising events. They also help make decisions on items such as event facilities, catering, merchandise orders, event features, auctioneers, event timelines and more.

Food Bank of Wyoming sends out over 3600 food boxes each month to our mobile pantry sites across the state. Come help build these food boxes in an assembly-line system for our 19 mobile pantry sites located in rural communities.

This volunteer opportunity requires the ability to move freely and lift up to 30 pounds.

Companionship Volunteer: Engage in conversation, rad thee paper, share music, give a wheelchair ride, play a game or just be there to hold a hand.

Errands/Shopping: There may be times that the caregiver will not want to leave their loved one's side. They may need help getting a few supplies or groceries.

Be present in the home to give the caregiver a break. This may allow them to go to appointments, attend church, run errands or meet a friend for lunch.

Are you someone who finds satisfaction in organizing, cleaning, and repairing? The Nicolaysen is looking for individuals to help out with the ongoing cleaning efforts behind the scenes. Help us to make labels, sort documents/equipment, clean surfaces, take inventory, and create a better working environment for everyone. We operate off grid and on a remote location. We have a volunteer position for a person seeking to provide trustworthy fulltime oversight of the operations at the Rescue/Ranch. 

Duties include feeding and watering the animals

Notification of board members of property and animal needs. ie ordering feed veterinary supplies, vet appointments 

Hauling feed and water

Process & prepare donated bedding for sale, ultimately helping us raise funds for our charitable operations.

This task consists of separating great donations from unacceptable donations, measuring, bundling, and labeling bedding, towels, curtains, and more.

Bedding not only helps us raise funds for food, but we sell it at very low prices, supporting low-income households.

TAC is in need of volunteers to support programming delivery. 

Volunteers are needed to support trail building projects at TAC. 

Make a Scene: Help in the construction and arranging of set pieces, moving furniture and making sure the scene is set.

Be a Fixer: Help with minor repairs around the theater and preparations at the beginning and end of each show. Occasional work every couple of weeks to keep the theater running. 

Learn to train service dogs while helping at our training facility in Mills, WY. Duties include not only training dogs, but general help around the facility cleaning and playing with dogs. 

The role of the board secretary is critical for the smooth operations of the board. Most commonly, this individual ensures that board members are given appropriate notice of meetings and proactively records these meetings. Some of the responsibilities of the board secretary are as follows:

- Assures that an agenda has been prepared by the board president and/or CEO and that the agenda is distributed in advance of the meeting

- Oversees the distribution of background information for agenda items to be discussed

- Prepares the official minutes of the meeting and records motions, discussions, votes, and decisions

- Prepares and provides the previous meeting’s written minutes to board members before the next meeting and records any changes or corrections

- Assures that documents (bylaws, Form-990, roster of board members) are are accessible to members.

- Schedules and notifies board members of upcoming meetings

- Holds members accountable for their tasks

- Actively participates/volunteers in the programs and services provided

Some desirable qualities for this position include a fluid set of skills such as strong communication skills and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks. This extremely driven and detail-oriented individual should also be well-versed in administrative work. Those who apply should be able to learn quickly and juggle many things.

We need someone to do some landscaping at our center during the summer months either weekly or periodically, as you are available. 

Aiding the Athletics & Activities offices with state and local events.

Every Angel helps in ways that they are comfortable with, whether its preparing patient meals from home or sitting with patients as a support unit while they are undergoing treatment. Each Angel has a unique skill to bring to the table. 

We are currently in need of volunteers to drive the service van that picks patients up from their homes and brings them to their treatment appointments and back home after. Shifts can be broken up or you can choose to work a full shift on a specific day of the week. 

We never turn away a volunteer and can always use help to run our fundraisers and help out with patient needs. When the COVID restrictions are lifted at Rocky Mountain Oncology we have Angel volunteers that come in for a couple hours during the week to visit with chemo patients and hand out snacks/beverages. This boosts the moral of the chemo room and brightens the day of our patients.
