Agency: Cody Council on Aging BUS AMBASSADORS NEEDED: Cody Council on Aging operates a public transportation system, and we are seeking volunteers to assist seniors and those with disabilities in tasks we are not able to do with our door-to-door transportation program. We operate between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm, and are requesting volunteers to take a regular three-hour shift, one day per week to socialize with our passengers and respond to needs as they arise. Just a few of the following support activities could apply: Dropping our passenger at their destination, an Ambassador may assist with grocery shopping--especially serving those with mobility issues! When picking up our passengers, an Ambassador could assist with taking a passenger's trash to the dumpster, or checking their mail. Assist as they take their pet to a vet visit. Accompany them to medical appointments, helping them navigate their way through medical facilities. Conversing with all passengers to relieve their sense of isolation--for many a trip to a retail store is their only social activity each week!Must be able to pass a background check and attend a training (Tentative Saturday 2/20/21 or 2/27/21, depending on volunteer recruitment effort). Must also be physically able to assist others with mobility challenges. This informative and fun training will be from 10:00am to 12:30pm, and lunch is provided. Help us to kick off this new Volunteer endeavor...sign-up to become a CCoA Bus Ambassador today! Call 307-587-6221 for an application.
