Community Compass is a crowdsourced platform that connects volunteers with their community and each other. We’re building a national directory of nonprofit organizations, mutual aid and grassroots networks, service clubs, and more. Because volunteer groups come in all shapes and sizes, our Community Pages include smaller, less formal organizations alongside established nonprofits.

We’re looking for enthusiastic contributors (like you!) to help us update and enrich Community Pages and Organization Pages on Community Compass. With some research and your curiosity, you can help your neighbors quickly find nearby nonprofits, mutual aid groups, service clubs and more – making it simpler than ever for everyone to make a local impact.

Community Compass contributors have already helped us identify over 3,600 ways to volunteer in more than 380 communities in the US!

What You'll Do:

Be a Contributor: Conduct quick, simple online research to identify active service clubs, mutual aid groups, and upcoming volunteer events in your community.

Be a Fact Checker: Enhance your community's page on Ways to Connect by ensuring the information is current, accurate, and inviting for potential volunteers.

Help our administrative staff with front desk coverage, filing, mailings and other special projects. Comprehensive trainings are provided to all volunteers and available throughout the year. Application packet is available and includes background check and driving record.

Interfaith of Natrona County board member is a 2-year commitment, with 2 renewal opportunities, for a total of 6 consecutive years of service. We meet on a monthly basis and ask that every board member also sit on a committee.  Come share your expertise and desire to assist our agency in providing emergency services to Natrona County residents. 

Lion's Disability Transport Service is looking for assistance with writing federal grants to raise the funding to operate the program. Any person with grant writing experience would be helpful. 

The merchandise chair is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, organizing and keeping inventory of all event merchandise. Merchandise is secured by local committees through donations, local purchases or through the RMEF event merchandise purchase program.

The ticket chair is responsible for the distribution of event invitations and coordinating pre-event ticket sales. Ticket chairs collect all banquet tickets, manage and account for other pre-event revenue, and monitor the progress of banquet ticket sales within the RMEF Event Management System. At the event, the ticket chair oversees the attendee check-in process and ensures that those attendees receive what they previously purchased.

As the lead chapter volunteer, the chapter chair is responsible for overseeing chapter operations and fundraising activities. The chair leads efforts to organize, mentor and provide guidance to the chapter committee on all event preparations. The chapter chair works closely with the RD to set goals and objectives and ensures that the committee is well managed to complete necessary tasks on time. The chair typically leads committee meetings and is the primary contact with the RMEF regional director.

We run a lean machine, with a just-launched e-commerce site (friendsofmedicinelodge.org).  This is our main source of revenue, since most of our Board does not live near the Park.  
We are looking for someone with back-end Shopify experience, who also loves engaging with social media.  In this area, Facebook is the channel that gets the most reach, but we have a lazy Insta page as well.

This free service accepts donations of durable medical equipment that we loan to seniors. We are looking for individuals to work shift that fir their schedule manning the Medical Loan Closet, primarily assisting patrons with identifying and checking out medical equpiment.

Equipment Management:

-Organizing and Cleaning: Sorting, cleaning, and shelving donated or returned medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.).

-Inventory Management: Tracking equipment availability and ensuring proper storage.

-Donation Handling: Accepting and processing equipment donations. 

-General Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintaining a tidy and organized space.

Client Interaction:

-Matching Needs: Assisting clients in selecting appropriate equipment for their needs.

-Paperwork and Documentation: Helping with necessary paperwork and forms.

-Answering Phones: Responding to inquiries about equipment loans and donations. Scheduling Appointments: Coordinating pick-up and return appointments.

Commitment:

Volunteers often commit to a set schedule, such as a few hours per week or month.

Physical Ability:

Some tasks may involve light to moderate physical activity like lifting and carrying equipment.

Data Entry: Scan, upload and document information to track visits made with our patients

Clerical: Assembling admission packets, filing, copying, assisting with mailings and helping with other special projects throughout the year.

A volunteer to help increase social media presence

Individual to research and assist staff with arranging content into a Microsoft Publisher file for monthly newsletter. Needs to be able to read and write well, review for grammar and spelling errors, and cite sources of content. Needs to be able to evaluate content for relevancy to our membership base of aged 60 and older seniors.

The role of the board secretary is critical for the smooth operations of the board. Most commonly, this individual ensures that board members are given appropriate notice of meetings and proactively records these meetings. Some of the responsibilities of the board secretary are as follows:

- Assures that an agenda has been prepared by the board president and/or CEO and that the agenda is distributed in advance of the meeting

- Oversees the distribution of background information for agenda items to be discussed

- Prepares the official minutes of the meeting and records motions, discussions, votes, and decisions

- Prepares and provides the previous meeting’s written minutes to board members before the next meeting and records any changes or corrections

- Assures that documents (bylaws, Form-990, roster of board members) are are accessible to members.

- Schedules and notifies board members of upcoming meetings

- Holds members accountable for their tasks

- Actively participates/volunteers in the programs and services provided

Some desirable qualities for this position include a fluid set of skills such as strong communication skills and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks. This extremely driven and detail-oriented individual should also be well-versed in administrative work. Those who apply should be able to learn quickly and juggle many things.

  BUS AMBASSADORS NEEDED: Cody Council on Aging operates a public transportation system, and we are seeking volunteers to assist seniors and those with disabilities in tasks we are not able to do with our door-to-door transportation program. We operate between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm, and are requesting volunteers to take a regular three-hour shift, one day per week to socialize with our passengers and respond to needs as they arise. Just a few of the following support activities could apply:

Must be able to pass a background check and attend a training (Tentative Saturday 2/20/21 or 2/27/21, depending on volunteer recruitment effort).  Must also be physically able to assist others with mobility challenges. This informative and fun training will be from 10:00am to 12:30pm, and lunch is provided.
