Who We Are

We work to protect Wyoming's historic places and spaces.  The words “historic preservation” might not evoke feelings of your favorite place or memories of basketball games in the high school gym, feeding animals on the family farm, or taking the time-honored trip to see Independence Rock or Yellowstone National Park in the summer.  But while the words “historic preservation” may sound boring, the places we’re preserving are definitely not!

With the support of a statewide network, the Alliance for Historic Wyoming is preserving places that matter to Wyoming.  Through our Historic Architectural Assistance Fund (HAAF) we’re helping a nonprofit repair and reopen a rural community hall, a ranch couple save a crumbling stone barn and a homeowner rehab a 1879 home.  We’re standing up to energy companies threatening historic landscapes, such as the Oregon and Overland Trails, and are supporting community groups working to keep their historic neighborhoods, schools, and library buildings in use in our towns.

The Alliance for Historic Wyoming is dedicated to spreading the word about why preservation matters, to strengthening community, honoring memories, and highlighting the unique environment that is Wyoming.
