Who We Are
Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
Our Vision is that all youth achieve their full potential.
Our Mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
What We Do
Big Brothers Big Sisters offers a variety of options for involvement, flexibility to fit your schedule and the freedom of choice in your activities. In the One-to-One Community based program a volunteer would be matched with a child based on similar interests and personalities and do things they both enjoy. In the Site based program the volunteer would spend time with a child at school during the lunch hour, or recess, before or after school or during a non-academic time. All services are free of charge.
Our unique brand of one-to-one mentoring, in which a child is carefully matched with a caring adult mentor in a relationship supported by professional Big Brothers Big Sisters staff members, changes lives for the better forever.
