Who We Are
We feel we offer a unique opportunity for young adults to become involved and invested in our community. The Sheridan Jaycees offer an outlet for young adults to stay active by providing networking opportunities with other young adults and leaders in the community, training opportunities, and community service projects.
All of our projects are organized and run by our members. We follow a business plan for every project which enhances the training opportunities within the Jaycees. By following our planning model members learn how to run all aspects of a project from the planning and development stages, to budgeting, advertising, and even doing an analysis on the project. The training that comes from running a successful project can carry over into a members professional life as well.
We also provide opportunities for our members to learn more about our community and to have some fun. Some of our local speakers over the past year have included: Karlyn Osthoff from D.A. Davidson discussing Financial Planning, Angela Wallace from Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and Dixie Johnson from the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce. Some of our social activities include co-ed volleyball and softball teams, wine tastings, skiing trips, and an annual Super Bowl Party. These activities allow our members to meet and get to know each other in a relaxed setting. Almost all of our activities are family friendly as well and we have a number of "future" Jaycees who love to help.
We feel our organization is a wonderful opportunity for young adults to become more involved in our community and to develop friendship and leadership skills that last a lifetime. We are always seeking new members and welcome anyone who wants to come see what we do to one of our meetings. We meet the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Firewater Bar & Grill. Our general meeting is held at 6:00 pm. Dinner and drinks are available but are not provided by the Jaycees. All new prospective members will get a free meal at the first meeting they attend.
We would like to close with a quote from Dixie Johnson, Director of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce: "We are pleased to be working with the Sheridan Jaycees. They are dedicated to team-building and leadership skill development through community-focused projects and are an asset to the Sheridan area."
