Description

The Tate Geological Museum will celebrate the Fourth Annual National Fossil Day on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the museum.

The popular “Fossil Road Show” will return and give attendees the opportunity to bring rocks and fossils to have them evaluated and identified by Casper College geology instructors.

In addition to the “Fossil Road Show,” tours will be given in the T. rex barn and the prep lab, National Park Service Jr. Ranger books will be given away to children while supplies last, make and take fossil casting will be available, and everyone attending will also be able to make their own eurypterid craft.

In conjunction with the celebration will be the special art exhibition, “Shadow of the Past,” by illustrator Russell Hawley at the Goodstein Gallery. Hawley, who is the Tate Museum’s Education Specialist, will give a talk at noon that same day in the Goodstein Visual Arts Center about the exhibition.

The open house, which is sponsored by the Tate Geological Museum, the U.S. National Park Service, and the American Geological Institute, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
